REC · TITLE SCREEN BUILD · UPDATE 18
STATUS: EARLY ALPHA · IN DEVELOPMENT

EARLY ALPHA. Early alpha: playable in your browser, but expect bugs, missing features and saves that can reset. Everything is still changing. Best on a desktop browser, with mouse and keyboard or a PlayStation-style pad.

Story

THE MACHINES WON.

Nobody stopped the mechs. Now they patrol the ruins, the forest grows through the cities, and what is left of people scavenge, build and hold on.

Ironfall is a top-down survival game set years after AI war machines took over. The cities are overgrown. Rusted mechs stand in the trees like monuments, and some of them still move.

Every world is generated from a seed. Gather what you can, craft at a ladder of stations, and build a base from wood up to mech-alloy. Then hold it: raider gangs come for it, and armoured mechs sweep the ruins with red scanning cones.

It plays with keyboard and mouse, point and click, or a controller.

WHAT YOU DO

8 PLAYABLE NOW · 2 IN THE WORKS

EXPLORE A SEEDED WORLD

A new world from every seed: seven biomes, from forest and ruins to irradiated wasteland, with rivers, lakes and roads between them.

PLAYABLE · UPDATE 03

CRAFT AND DISCOVER

Stations from campfire to electronics bench. Most recipes start locked: experiment, find blueprints, or salvage to learn them.

PLAYABLE · UPDATE 05

BUILD A BASE

Floors, walls, doors, beds, storage, stations and a turret, placed on a grid. Upgrade pieces as you go, or take them down for a partial refund.

PLAYABLE · UPDATE 05

FIGHT RAIDERS AND MECHS

Scavs, brutes and gunners raid your base. Heavy mechs are slow, hit hard and fire bursts from range. Melee barely scratches them. Bring a gun.

BLOCKBENCH BUILDINGS

Walls and doors are modelled in 3D in Blockbench, then rendered to pixel art. Six materials, from wood (120 HP) to mech-alloy (800 HP). Walls join, doors swing, and pieces crack as they take damage.

PLAYABLE · UPDATE 11

FOG OF WAR

Unexplored land is black. Places you have seen stay dimly remembered, only your line of sight is lit, and walls block your view. The world map fills in as you go.

PLAYABLE · UPDATE 05

DAY, NIGHT, WEATHER

A 10-minute day, real light and shadow, and seeded weather: fog, storms, dust and snow that change what you and the mechs can see.

PLAYABLE · UPDATE 08

PLAY YOUR WAY

Point and click: walk, fight and loot with the mouse alone. Or play with WASD and the mouse, or a controller.

PLAYABLE · UPDATE 12

A COMPANION DOG

Pick a breed and give it a name. Your dog fights beside you, hunts and fetches items, and carries a few things for you.

IN THE WORKS

VEHICLES

Bikes, a buggy, an armoured rover, aircraft and an airship you can live on are planned, all modelled in 3D and rendered to pixel art. The dune buggy here is the first test of that route.

WEATHER MATTERS

Fog and storms shrink how far you and the mechs can see, and rain and wind help cover the noise you make.
